Professional Masters XI of Bhairahawa recently organized the Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Raunak Indo-Nepal Twenty20 Cricket Tournament with an added feature for the first time in Nepal – the dancers.
Popularized during the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup, the attractively clad dancers on music played on every four, six and wicket.
The dancers not only made the cricket more interesting but also helped in selling of the tickets of the event participated by 24 clubs including 12 from Indian.
Banaras, India won the event defeating local Lumbini Khukuri Club by 10 runs in the final at the Siddartha Stadium . The winners scored 116 in 19.4 overs while Lumbini Khukuri managed only 106 in 19.4 overs. The winners received a cheque of NRs. 50,000 while the runners-up got half of that.
Rahul Biswokarma, a member of Nepal U-19 team, was declared the best bowler while Mritunjaya Yadav took the honor of best batsman. Subash Pradhan (best wicketkeeper – Lumbini), Mohammad Kaif (best fielder – Debariya, India) and Sushant Tuladhar (man of the series – Professional Masters) were also honored.
