Good bye 2009; Welcome 2010

Year 2009 was a year that would be remembered for the failures more than success; Year 2010 is a crucial year that could become the best year of Nepali cricket – or the worst ever. Nepal began 2009 with splendid victory in the ACC U-17 Elite Cup – the only age-group tournament that the country had previously not won. Five victories in five matches at the home ground in front of thousands of cheering crowd was spectacular morale booster.

Sharad excluded for WCL Div 5

Sharad Vesawkar will not be showcasing his batting when Nepal competes in the World Cricket League Division 5 in Kathmandu in February 2010 as Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) axed him from the national team. CAN named 18-member squad for the closed-camp training and Vesawkar is the only name missing from the national team ranked fifth in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup in UAE last month.

Gyanendra to lead Nepal in SAG

Gyanendra Malla will lead the Nepali cricket team in the South Asian Games next year, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Sunday. CAN also named 18 players for the event to be played from January 29 to February 8, 2010 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

28 cricketers for SAG closed-camp

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named 28-member preliminary squad for the closed-camp training for the South Asian Games. The camp will begin on December 12 in Kathmandu.
