Defeat Ends WC Dream

Nepal put up a dismal batting performance to bow out of the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 tournament with a 37-run semifinal loss at the hands of Afghanistan at the Grainville ground in Jersey on Friday. After the bowlers bowled brilliantly to restrict Afghanistan to 142 in 49.3 overs, Nepali batsmen batted miserably to end Nepal’s remote chances of qualifying for the 2011 World Cup.

Nepal Enters WCL Div V Semifinal

Nepal entered the semifinals of the World Cricket League Division 5 tournament beating Vanuatu by 137 runs at the Victoria College Ground on Tuesday to record its fourth straight victory. Opener Mahesh Chhetri made 65 as Nepal made 220/9 in 46 overs in the rain-curtailed match and Nepal then bowled out Vanuatu for 83 runs. Nepal plays USA at Les Quennevais 1 ground Wednesday to decide the group winner.

Alam Juggernaut Rolls On

Allrounder Mehboob Alam followed up Sunday’s record-breaking feat with another sterling performance Monday to guide Nepal to an easy 108-run win over Norway in its third match of the World Cricket League Division 5 tournament at the Farmers Field ground in Jersey. He made a patient fifty to help Nepal to a competitive total of 204 after being sent in to bat and then took two wickets to bowl Norway out for 96 to fashion a comfortable win.

Alam Makes History With Perfect 10

Every cloud has a silver lining. Nepali left-arm seamer Mehboob Alam proved this age-old cliché to the delight of the millions of Nepalis on Sunday. After rain robbed Nepal of certain victory against Mozambique in its second group match of World Cricket League Division 5 tournament at the Grainville Ground in Jersey on Saturday, Alam made history by taking all 10 Mozambique wickets in the replay match today.

Rain Halts Nepal’s March

Binod Das and Basant Regmi each took five wickets as Nepal bowled out Mozambique for 70 runs but rain forced the match to be abandoned. On Sunday, the match will RESTART from the beginning. Rain has halted the match when Nepal was 2/0 in 0.1 overs.

Nepal Eases Past Germany

Basant Regmi and Mehboob Alam each grabbed three wickets as Nepal began the World Cricket League Division 5 campaign strongly defeating Germany by 7 wickets at the Les Quennevais Ground, Jersey on Friday. Their efforts wrecked German innings as they were bowled out for 69 in 39.4 overs and achieved the target in 20.2 overs with Mahesh Chhetri remaining unbeaten on 23. Man of the match Basant finished with an impressive figure of 5.5-4-4-3 while Mehboob, who bowled his 10 overs in a spell, got three wickets for 24 runs.

Nepal beat Bahamas, Guernsey in Warm-ups

On their way to Jersey for the World Cricket League Division 5, Nepal stopped at Guernsey for two-friendly matches both of which they won comfortably. Nepal beat Bahamas by 201 runs before beating hosts Guernsey by 70 runs. Nepal scored 209/7 in 50 overs and bowled out Guernsey for 139.

You need more grounds: Ijaz Ahmed

Ijaz Ahmed, former Pakistan Test and ODI player with experience of four World Cups, was in Nepal as the coach of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy. Ahmed. 40 was dubbed the Axeman for his stance and chopping down of the ball outside off-stump with dominant bottom hand grip. He played 250 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 60 Test matches from 1987 to 2001. His PCB Academy played three one-day matches against Nepal winning two and suffering an upset loss in the last. Amazing Victory for CAN XI

Spinners helped Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) XI registered an upset victory over visiting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy in the final of three one-day matches at the TU Cricket Ground on Sunday. Brought in after the visitors hit 47 runs of first two overs while chasing lowly 136 for victory, the spinners did the trick for Nepal and the stand-in captain Paras Khadka walked away with praise for his experimental decisions that proved successful.

Sarfraz helps PCB blow Nepali hopes

Sarfraz Ahmed displayed a brilliant batting performance as visiting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy registered an impressive 109-run victory over Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) XI at the TU Ground on Friday. Ahmed, who captained Pakistan to U-19 World Cup victory in 2006, scored unbeaten 94 to rescue his team from 53/5 and take the total to 218/7 in 50 overs. CAN XI could only add 109 in 34.2 overs.

PCB Academy Registers Easy Win

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy registered an easy seven-wicket victory in a rain-interrupted match against Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) XI at the TU Cricket Ground on Thursday. In the first of the three-match series, hailed as a test for the national team before World Cricket League Division 5, Nepal first failed to utilize the batting foundation and then witnessed strong batting from a ‘tough competitor.’

Nepal Play PCB for Exposure

Nepal hosts visiting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy in the first of three one-dayers at the TU Ground on Thursday. Nepal national team hopes to get much-needed match practices and exposure to a better team ahead of the World Cricket League Division 5. Boosting services of five ODI players, Pakistani side is looking to end their tour on high note after notching a tri-series and two four-day matches in Bangladesh.

PCB Academy Arrives Kathmandu

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Academy arrived Kathmandu today afternoon for three one-day matches against Nepal’s national team. The PCB Academy, that flew in from Bangladesh, will play Nepal on May 8, 9 and 11 at the TU Cricket Ground.
