Nepal U-19 lose T20 in Bangladesh

Nepal U-19 cricket team ended the Bangladesh tour with a 68-run loss in the one-off Twenty20 match against Bangladesh U-19 at Sylhet on Saturday. Nepal U-19 have lost also the two One-Day matches against the same opponent in their ACC (Asian Cricket Council) U-19 Elite Cup build-up. Nepal U-19 were in Bangladesh for three practice matches ahead of their participation in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup scheduled to be held in Thailand from Tuesday.

Batting fails again, Bangladesh win

Nepal’s weakness in batting was evident once again as Bangladesh U-19 beat Nepal U-19 by 145 runs to take the three-match series at Sylhet. Bangladesh scored 211/9 in 50 overs and bowled out Nepal for only 66 runs in 28.5 overs. They had won the first match by 10 wickets bowling out Nepal for 70 runs.

Bangladesh beat Nepal by 10 wkts

Nepal U-19 cricket squad, preparing for ACC U-19 Elite Cup scheduled to be held in Thailand from February 1 to 10, suffered a sloppy loss in their first one-day match against Bangladesh U-19 on Wednesday. Bangladesh thrashed Nepal by 10 wickets in the first match of the three-match series. Nepal U-19 won the toss and elected to bat on the Sylhet Divisional Stadium. Bangladesh bundled out Nepal for 70 runs in 33.2 overs and crossed the target in 11 overs with 74 runs on the board.

SAG Cricket: Nepal fails to impress

Nepal concluded the South Asian Games (SAG) as expected with losses against Test nations and a solidarity win over Maldives. On the bronze medal match against Pakistan, Nepal gave a tough fight. Winning toss, Nepal scored 147/6 in 20 overs but failed to defend it as Pakistan reached the target in the last over losing eight wickets. Pakistan claimed the bronze medal in the five-team events. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh reached the final.

SAG fixture changes; India not to play

he fixture and structure of the Twenty20 cricket in the 11th South Asian Games has been changed after India and Afghanistan decided not to compete of the event. According to Nepal Olympic Committee, cricket will be now played on the round-robin league between the five participating teams – Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Maldives. Top two teams will vie for the gold medal while third and fourth-place team will play for bronze.

Nepal to meet India, Pakistan in SAG

Nepal has been drawn along with India, Pakistan and Afghanistan in Group B for the South Asian Games (SAG) cricket, according to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). In Group A, Sri Lanka, hosts Bangladesh and Maldives will play. SAG Cricket is the Twenty20 event for the U-21 teams of the region and has been included for the first time in regional sports meet.

Gyanendra to lead Nepal in SAG

Gyanendra Malla will lead the Nepali cricket team in the South Asian Games next year, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Sunday. CAN also named 18 players for the event to be played from January 29 to February 8, 2010 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

28 cricketers for SAG closed-camp

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named 28-member preliminary squad for the closed-camp training for the South Asian Games. The camp will begin on December 12 in Kathmandu.
