ICC cancels WCQS

International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to cancel the World Cup Qualifying Series (WCQS) due to the financial contraints following the loss it bears after England and New Zealand’s boycott to world cup games. The world cup sponsors and television companies have also threatened to withheld the payment as ICC failed to persuade India to make their players to sign the controversial players contracts.

Mehboob’s record haul humble Maldives

A record breaking eight-wicket haul by Mehaboob Alam guided Nepal to a comfortable 116-run win over Maldives in the Emerging Nation’s Cricket tournament played at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground on Friday. The Biratnagar allrounder broke the bowling record set by his teammate Dipendra Chaudhary, who picked up 6-46 in the second ACC Trophy 1998 against United Arab Emirates. Alam took eight wickets in his full quota of 10 overs conceding 23 runs.

Maldives thrash Bhutan in opener

Maldives recorded an emphatic win against Bhutan in the Emerging Nations Cup triangular tournament that started Thursday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground. Bhutan managed mere 62 runs in its first-ever-international cricket match and batted for 28.5 overs after being asked to. Maldives surpassed the score in 11.2 overs losing only one wicket of Abdulla Shafeell.
