Nepal suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka Sports Academy as the local team demolished the touring party by eight wickets in today’s last practice match held in Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
Nepal, playing without star batsman Sarad Vesawkar, was bundled out for 87 runs in 31.4 overs batting first. Paresh Lohani was the lone Nepali bastman to offer resistance scoring 22 runs.
Salika Karunakaran picked up four wickets for the home team. Chasing a lowly target, the Sri Lankan team needed 25 overs and two wickets to register victory.
Part time bowler Paras Khadka took a wicket while one Sri Lankan bastman was run out.
With the loss, Nepal wrapped up its practice matches in Sri Lanka with two defeats and a win. The team is leaving for Malaysia on February 19.
Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has picked up Bhairahawa allrounder Basanta Regmi to replace injured Sarad Vesawkar. Regmi will fly directly to Malaysia while Sarad will return back after making a trip with the team to Malaysia.
Sarad’s injury is another headache for coach Roy Dias who is already without star performer Manjeet Shrestha and Raju Basnet.
