Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) today announced the 14-member Nepali Under-15 Team for the upcoming U-15 Asia Cup scheduled for April 11-22 in United Arab Emirates.
Shashi Keshari, the spinner who scored the famous four for the one-wicket victory over South Africa in the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2004 has been named captain of the side while Kathmandu’s Gyanendra Malla has been appointed his deputy.
Other players in the team include Antim Thapa, Anil Mandal, Sagar Khadka, Rom Shrestha, Deepan Shrestha (wicket keeper), Amrit Pokherel, Angel Acharya, Sarad Pokherel, Amrit Bhattarai, Chandra Saud, Subash Jaiswal and Lal Bahadur Adhikari.
Imran Khan, Utsav Pant and Sunil Bista are named as alternative players of the squad. The team was selected by the selection committee headed by Bijay Sharma after closed-camp training in Birgunj. The team is now in Kathmandu for training.
Laxman Prasad Bastola has been named manager of the side while Pradeep Kumar Karki his deputy. Coach Roy Dias will be helped by Manjur Ali Khan.
Similarly, CAN nominated Himal Raj Giri for the umpiring in the tournament.
