Nepal will meet Bahrain in the quarterfinal of the ACC Under-15 Asia Cup tournament at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Bahrain progressed to the quarterfinal as the runners-up of Group B losing to Hong Kong today by 43 runs. Hong Kong topped the group that also consisted Oman who lost both of the league matches by 9 wickets.
At Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Hong Kong won the toss and scored 183/7 in allotted 40 overs. They bowled out Bahrain for 140 in 34.4 overs.
Similarly, Afghanistan beat Qatar by 9 wickets today to enter the last eight. They will play Hong Kong on Tuesday at Dubai. Qatar elected to bat first but were pegged down by the Afghan bowlers. They managed only 58 runs in 25.3 overs with T Sajjad (16) being only batsman to reach double figure. Opening pair Aftab Alam and Sanullah each took three wickets.
In reply, Afghanistan, who lost to Nepal by 5 wickets two day ago, chased the target in 9.1 overs with opener Sajid Khan scoring 41.
From Group A, UAE and Malaysia have confirmed their spot in quarters with win over Maldives. UAE beat Maldives by 5 wickets on the opening day while Malaysia beat the South Asian nation by 9 wickets yesterday. The match between UAE and Malaysia on Sunday will decide the group winner.
In Group C, Kuwait and Singapore are well placed with two wins and have entered the quarters. Their match on Sunday will decide the group winner.
Kuwait beat Saudi and Thailand by 2 wickets and 5 wickets respectively while Singapore beat Thailand by 4 wickets today and Saudi Arabia by 5 wickets. Saudi today beat Thailand by 75 runs to return with some pride.
