Nepal will attempt to defend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-15 Cup in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia with a team that has not a single recognized face.
In the team announced by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Pruthu Baskota of Region No 3 Kathmandu has been appointed captain. He will lead the team in the U-15 Elite Competition that features eight quarterfinalists of last edition in the two-day matches. This is the first time any age-group event to be played in two-day format.
Other members of the team are: Akash Singh Pariyar and Bibek Dali (Region No 2 Birgunj), Ayush Sharma, Kabi Khagi, Rochak Bhatta and Prajesh Bahadur Singh (Region No 3 Kathmandu), Sagar Pun and Krishna Karki (Region No 4 Bhairahawa), Subendi Pandey (Region No 5 Nepalgunj) and Pradeep Singh Iyer, Santosh Bhatta and Binod Lama (Region No 6 Baitadi).
Those named in alternative are Abhisekh Budamagar, Nirajan Khadka and Ajar Satyal (Region No 3) and Dipesh Budathoki (Region No 5). The event begins on May 26. The team was selected by the selection committee formed under chairmanship of Bijay Kumar Sharma.
Due to the people’s movement, CAN couldn’t held the national competition thus asked each regions to send players for the camp. During age test, many of whom were found over-aged and the regions were asked to send more eligible players.
