Nepal and UAE will both be eyeing victory on the third-day at the Sharjah as the match headed for a definite result on the end of second day with Nepal requiring another 186 runs with 8 wickets in hands.
Resuming from overnight 63/3, Nepal could only manage 155 runs in the first innings – a deficit of 107 runs. But Nepal returned with an improved bowling performance bowling UAE for mere 97 runs in second innings.
Nepal needs 205 runs in second innings for victory in the ACC Premier League match and are at 33/2 at the stumps on the second day with Paresh Lohani and Sharad Vesawkar back to pavilion. Gyanendra Malla (19) and vice-captain Shakti Gauchan (4) are at the crease.
Earlier, captain Binod Das led from front to end UAE dominance in the match taking four wickets to restrict UAE’s second innings to a paltry total. With Sanjam Regmi and Paras Khadka both taking three wickets apiece, UAE batsmen were bowled out for 97 runs.
At the end of day two, UAE has earned 12.5 bonus points while Nepal has 12 points. If Nepal successfully chases the target, it will earn 17.5 more points. Meanwhile, the three-day match between Hong Kong and Malaysia has ended in a draw after rain interrupted the third day in Malaysia.
