Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) has won the Asian regional award for Best Women’s Cricket Initiative of the ICC Development Award, said the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Nepalgunj has been the front runner in organizing the girls cricket tournament in the country and this is indeed a great honor. “This award is not only for us, its for the country,” LB Chhetri, the former captain and man behind the initiative reacted.
This is the third regional award since the inception of the award in 2002 that Nepal had won. Nepal won two regional awards in 2003 – CAN for the Best Cricket Promotional Program and Jai Kumar Nath Shah for the volunteer of the year. Shah later went to win the global award.
CAN had forwarded nominees in three categories – Photo of the Year and Best Cricket Promotional And Marketing Award.
