Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Coach Accreditation Course Level 1 being hosted by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) began in Kathmandu.
A total of 39 aspiring coaches from 15 ACC member countries are participating in the training. Those representing Nepal include former captain Raju Khadka, national players Raju Basnet, Dipendra Chaudhary and Jamil Ahmad Ansari. Besides these, seven coaches from local schools and clubs are also sitting in the training.
The five-day training is being conducted by development officer Rumesh Ratnayake of Sri Lanka, Iqbal Sikandar of Pakistan, ACC Consultant Dr Vace Paes of India and Ross Turner of Cricket Australia. The four trainers along with chief guest Jeevan Ram Shrestha, the member-secretary of National Sports Council, inaugurated the training.
CAN president Binaya Raj Pandey thanked ACC for providing an opportunity to host the event while national coach Roy Dias talked about cricket in Nepal.
Two coaches each from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Maldives, Bhutan, Myanmar, Oman, Iran, the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Kuwait are participating in the training.
Mozhdeh Bavandpour of Iran is the only female participant in the training while local coaches included are Bikarnta Chhetri of Galaxy Public School, Rudolf Gomes of Bhanubhakta Memorial School, Milan Gurung of Bihaspari Vidhya Sadan, Bhusan Bajracharya of AVM School, Birendra Bikram Shah of Sangrila Cricket Academy, Ajay Kumar Thapa of Baluwatar Cricket Academy and Mukunda Raj Sharma of Bhaktapur.
