ACC U-19 Elite Cup Schedule Published

Nepal has been placed in Group A along with UAE, Thailand, Oman and Singapore for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Elite Cup cricket tournament.

According to ACC, three-time defending champion Nepal begins its campaign against Singapore on August 20 at Selangor Turf Club before meeting United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 22 at Kinrara Oval.

Similarly, Nepal takes on Thailand at Bayuemas Oval the next day and will play Oman at Club Aman on August 25 in the last league match. Semifinals are slated for August 27 and final for August 29.

The other group comprises of Malaysia, Hong Kong, Qatar, Kuwait and Afghanistan. The winner of the event, or the runners-up if the winner is Malaysia, plays the runners-up of European region for a spot in the Youth World Cup. Malaysia, as the hosts of the World Cup 2008, automatically qualifies for the event.

Nepal has qualified from the Asian region for the last four edition of the Youth World Cup.

Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the 18-member squad for the conditioning camp from July 3 in Kathmandu. The selected players are Paras Khadka, Sharad Vesawkar, Gyanendra Malla, Abhaya Rana, Raj Shrestha, Dipen Shrestha and Rom Shrestha, Amrit Bhattarai, Antim Thapa, Akash Gupta, Rahul BK, Sagar Khadka, Ratan Rauniyar, Santosh Baral, Mahesh Chhetry, Sahid Rija, Sashi Keshari and Chandra Saud.
