Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Sudarshan Ranjit, a Pokhara-based photojournalist, won the regional awards for Asia in the ICC Development Program Annual Awards.
International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the regional winners on Friday. Nepal is one among seven nations to pick two regional awards whereas Bermuda and Namibia have picked three each.
CAN won the Best Junior Cricket Initiative Award while Ranjit won the Photo of the Year award. The winners from five ICC Regions – Asia, Africa, Europe, America and East Asia Pacific – will each receive an ICC plaque and be forwarded for the ICC Global Awards.
The global winners will receive $2,000 cricket equipment grants. The Global winners will be declared on March 14. Other winners from Asia are Singapore for Best Overall Cricket Development Program, Bhutan for Best Women’s Cricket Initiative, Hong Kong for Best Cricket Promotional and Marketing Award and Ahmed Hasan Didi of Maldives for Lifetime Service Award.
Last year, Region No 5 Nepalgunj won the regional and global award for Best Women Cricket Development Initiative.
