Nepal’s cricket coach Roy Dias informed that he would renew the contract with CAN.
Dias’ contract with CAN ends on March and there have been offers to him, including one from Bangladesh.
“I won’t leave, I will extend my contract,” Dias, 55, said.
He has been coaching age-groups and national teams since 2001 and has been the backbone of Nepal’s success in international arena.
The former Sri Lankan Test player also informed that he requested for increment in salary.
“Coaching is my profession and I have requested CAN to increase my salary,” he said adding that CAN was positive.
“Nepal is playing two important events this year, and I can’t leave Nepal at this stage for money,” he said.
He said his most emotional moments had been the awarding of the best coach award by Nepal Sports Journalists Forum and displaying of a placard in Malaysia that read ‘Roy Dias We Are Happy’.
CAN president Binaya Raj Pandey confirmed that CAN would extend the contract.
“We have not been searching for alternatives, and Nepal is playing important events this year so he will remain,” Pandey said adding that the decision on his salary increment would be taken by the next executive committee meeting.
