The results on Tuesday confirmed semifinal berth for Nepal and United Arab Emirates (UAE) while Hong Kong and Afghanistan have a foot into the semifinal going into the last round of match on Wednesday.
Nepal’s qualification was confirmed after Qatar beat Kuwait by 24 runs. With the loss, Kuwait chances’ of gaining three wins faded away and now it’s only Hong Kong that can have three wins in four matches while Nepal has won all three matches.
UAE qualified after beating hosts Malaysia by 57 runs – their third win since losing to Saudi Arabia in the first match. From their group, Afghanistan has almost ensured it’s place in the semifinal with two wins from three matches. They have a very good run-rate that if they defeat Bahrain on Wednesday, they will proceed at the group leader while UAE will be runners-up.
Even if Afghanistan loses, they can proceed on better run rate.
In Group B, Hong Kong is likely qualifier. They have a match against Singapore winning which they can qualify without any hassle. If they lose, they can still qualify on run-rate.
