Bangladeshi Under-17 team will visit Nepal for a 10-day tour that will include three one-day and one two-day matches against the Nepali U-17 team, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said while announcing a 30-member preliminary squad for the ACC Under-17 Elite Cup.
The visiting Bangladesh Cricket Board U-17 team will arrive Nepal on Nov 21 and departs on Nov 30. It will play day-long matches on Nov 23, 24 and 26 while the two-day match is scheduled for Nov 28-29.
The preliminary squad was selected according to the age-verification report of all participating players of the Boost U-17 National Cricket Tournament that ended on Saturday with Region No 3 Kathmandu beating Region No 6 Baitadi in the final.
CAN had earlier announced that only 21 players were found medically confirmed of the required age while nine others were found to be on the ‘borderline’. Thus the 30-member squad, including six alternative players, were selected ‘automatically’ rather than based on their performances.
Those selected include Prithu Baskota, Rochak Bhatta, Ujjwal Thapa, Ayush Rana, Pawan Shrestha and Prajesh Bahadur Singh from Region No 3 Kathmandu. Pradeep Ayree and Bhuwan Karki are only representatives from runners-up Region No 6 Baitadi.
From Region No 1 Biratnagar, Aditya Shrestha and Aman Bahadur Thapa have been named while from Region No 2 Birgunj, Akash Singh Pariyar, Sahnawaz Ali, Avinash Karn, Bibek Dali and Samir Nepal are named. Sagar Pun, Krishna Karki, Nischal Chaudhary, Aman Deep Singh, Nirmal Thapa, Kriten Gurung and Krishna Sen have been selected from Region No 4 Bhairahawa while from Region No 5 Nepalgunj Pratik Singh and Nawaraj Shahi are named.
Those in the list of alternatives are Sumit Chandra Dev (RN1), Kunain Rain (RN2), Samin Akhtar (RN3), Rakesh Barai (RN4), Sunil Sunwar (RN5) and Nirmal Roka (RN6).
The ACC U-17 Elite Cup will be held in Nepal in February 2009.
