Visiting Bangladesh Cricket Board U-17 team took a 1-0 lead in the three match series after an easy eight-wicket win against Cricket Association of Nepal U-17 team at the TU Cricket Ground, Kathmandu.
The home team, preparing for the ACC U-17 Elite Cup, was bowled out for 62 in 30.3 overs. The guests completed the victory in 27.2 overs losing just two wickets.
CAN U-17 had a bad start with opener Sagar Pun going out in second over without scoring. Sagar was first of three victims of man of the match Mohammad Shentu.
Ayush Rana (2 off 18) fell in fifth over and CAN U-17 lost wickets at regular interval. In 12th over, the home team was struggling at 23/5 with Nishal (2 off 25), captain Prithu Baskota (1) and Ujjwal Thapa (4) back in the pavilion.
Pradeep Ayree, somehow, rescued the team with his 17 off 35 that consisted three boundaries. Krishna Karki (3 off 25) stayed patiently with Ayree and the duo fell at 46.
Nirmal Thapa then hit seven including a four and twos from last three batsmen – Rochak Bhatta, Aman Bahadur Thapa and Amandeep Singh took the score to 62.
Shentu finished with 3/12 while Mehdi Hasan (2/4) and Asif Hasan (2/13) made it difficult for the home team.
The visitors too didn’t score runs at flash. When captain Jayanto Das (4 off 30) was out off Krishna in 11th over, the scoreboard was reading 16/1. Shahnaz Ahmed begin hitting a few scoring shots with opener Ashiqal Alam and when he was out in the 20th over off Amandeep, his team was already at the brisk of victory at 42/2.
Ahmed scored 14 off 27 balls with two boundaries. Alam (17 not out off 89 balls) completed the victory with Mehdi Hasan (12).
