The result of the second one-dayer against visiting Bangladesh Cricket Board U-17 was not different from the first one, as Cricket Association of Nepal U-17 lost by seven wickets, but the match proved that Nepali youngsters are good in learning from every matches.
CAN U-17 improved a little in batting to score 106 in 37.3 overs and put the visitors in trouble with three early wickets before a fine partenrship helped the Test nation’s youth team to register an easy looking victory.
BCB U-17 won the toss and had no hesistation to put CAN U-17 first. Pradeep Ayree, promoted as opener after yesterday’s 21, fell in the last ball of first over while Ayush Rana played down 17 balls before going out without a run in the fifth over.
It was Sagar Pun, who was on song for Nepal scoring 45 runs off 75 balls with four boundaries. Although Prithu Baskota scored none in 26 balls, he was able to partner Sagar for 14 runs. Sagar got a good partner in wicket-keeper Nishcal Chaudhary and the duo added 61 runs for fourth wicket.
Nischal hit 21 off 44 with four boundaries before edging a delivery off Dewan Shabbir to Nurul Hasan. Ujjwal Thapa added one and was bowled off Mohammad Asif Khan. Sagar too got bowled off Mamun Hossain in 31st over leaving CAN U-17 at 91/6.
The tailenders added a few runs but two wickets for Khan ended CAN U-17’s innings at 106. The home side also benefitted from 26 extras.
For the visitors, pacer Shabbir and Khan each returned with three wicekts while Mohd Sentu, Abu Zayed and Hossain each claimed a wicket.
BCB U-17 began their innings cautiously. Krishna Karki got edge of opener Ashiqul Alam (5) in the fifth over while Pradeep Ayree got Sayem Alam Rizwi (2) to make it 16/2 at the end of sixth over.
Shahnaz Ahmed scored 14 off 13 ball with three fours but Ayree got him in the 10th over to make it 32/3 and the visitors were in trouble.
But opening captain Jayanto Das played a patient knock off 30 off 79 balls with a four and a six while man of the match Mehdi Hasan hit 43 off 66 with five fours and a boundary to end the damage. They partnered 75 runs to take a 2-0 lead in three match series.
The final one-day match will be played on Wednesday.
