Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) U-17 learnt hard lessons as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 clean swept three-match one-day friendly with an emphatic 96-run victory at the TU Cricket Ground.
Helped by Nurul Hasan Sohan’s century, the visitors piled 269/8 in allotted 45 overs and restricted the hosts for 173/8.
Man of the match Sohan hit 13 fours and two sixes in his fiery innings of 98 balls that got his 105 runs. His innings began with BCB in trouble with 16/3 as Krishna Karki took three in his three overs including Ashiqul Alam in the first ball of the day. Captain Jayanto Das (two) and Mehdi Hasan (naught) were Karki’s other two victims.
Sohan joined No Iktendar Nazeef Ahmad for a stand of 83. When Ahmad was bowled for 41 by Pratik Singh in the 25th over, BCB were 99/4.
Pradeep Ayree got Sohan in the 38th over but he had already completed his job by putting another fine partnership. This time it was 110 runs with Shahnaz Ahmed (44).
Mamum Hossian contributed with quickfire 32 off. Karki finished with 4/56 while Prithu Baskota took 2/49.
During the host’s innings, Pradeep made 72 off 66 balls with nine fours and three sixes while Kriten Gurung (20) and Sagar Pun (17) got some runs.
Iktendar Nazeef (2/22), Jayanto (2/29) and Mehdi Hasan (2/29) were picks of BCB bowlers. The two teams will now play a two-day match beginning here from Friday.
