Nepali team has registered second victory over Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) defeating the visitors by five wickets in the one-off Twenty20 match at the TU Cricket Ground on Tuesday.
Man of the match Dipendra Chaudhary scored a half-century to help CAN T20 Team complete the victory target of 125 in 18.2 overs. MCC had scored 124/5 in its innings.
Dipendra hit four boundaries and two sixes to collect 50 runs off 43 balls before seeing his stumps castled by Peter King. Though Dipendra’s fall induced a series of wicket fall, he had already ensured Nepali side’s victory by partnering 100 runs with Shakti Gauchan after opener Paresh Lohani (6) was out early.
Shakti scored 45 off 47 balls with five fours. Paras Khadka (out first ball to Luke O’Reilly), Sarad Vesawkar (5) and Shakti fell in space of eight runs before Gyanendra Malla (not out 10) and Sunam Gautam (not out 1) took Nepal to the target.
MCC used seven bowlers. O’Reilly (2/7) led them while Glen Read and King also grabbed a wicket.
Earlier, MCC won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost Jason Finch (6) early but Neil Jones (22 off 26 balls) and Keith Parsons (29 off 21) put them back with 55-run partnership. Both of them fell to off-spinner Sanjam Regmi in successive deliveries.
Captain Min Patel led the batting with unbeaten 39 off 36 balls. He hit three sixes in his innings. Matt Walker got 11.
Apart from Sanjam, Binod Das, Paras Khadka and Basant Regmi each took a wicket.
It was MCC’s second defeat in the tour after losing to CAN Secretary XI by 99 runs on Monday. They won the opening limited-over match by eight runs. MCC next plays the third limited over match against CAN Board XI on Wednesday.
