Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced three national leagues within a month in yet another haste decision as the seasons of monsoon begins in Kathmandu.
On May 29, two national leagues – the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League and the Wai Wai Women’s National Twenty20 National League – are scheduled to begin. On June 8, a day after the finals of both events, the Pepsi Men’s One-day National League begins.
Women will play at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur while men’s T20 will take place at the Pulchowk Cricket Ground. They will play the one-dayers at the TU Cricket Ground.
CAN claimed that national cricketers will get much-needed match practice on the eve of the the Asian Games and the Pepsi World Cricket League Division IV. The Div IV will take place in Italy from August 14 to 21.
A preliminary national team is under closed-camp training for the past two weeks and they played on Millennium International Sports Club, Delhi on May 27.
The third edition of the women’s national league will be the player selection base for the 16th Asian Games, Guangzhou and the ACC U-19 Women´s Championship, Singapore. ACC U-19, where Nepal are the defending champions, is scheduled from September 30 to October 10 while the Asian Games take place in November.
