Region No 3 Kathmandu and Region No 5 Nepalgunj registered victories on the first day of the Wai Wai Women’s Twenty20 National League at TU Ground.
Kathmandu beat Region No 2 Birgunj and Nepalgunj defeated Region No 1 Biratnagar by identical margin of seven wickets scoring identical 57 runs for victory.
In the first match, Binu Buda Magar scored unbeaten 24 to take her team to victory in 16 overs. Binu also took a wicket to bowl out Biratnagar for 56 in 19.5 overs.
Biratnagar’s batting was a dismal story as not batswoman crossed the double digit with the highest contribution of 32 runs coming from extras. Rashmi Sharma’s seven was top score of the innings.
Sita Rana, Sita Shahi and Nary Thapa Magar each took two wickets for Nepalgunj.
In reply, Nepalgunj lost openers for 17 before Nary and Binu rescued with a partnership of 34. Nary scored 13.
In other match, Melina Rayamajhi’s 20 took Birgunj to 55/6 in 20 overs. Sarita Magar and Geeta Chudal each grabbed two wickets.
Neera Rajopadhyay’s unbeaten 14 and Sarita’s 12 took Kathmandu to victory in 8.4 overs. Kritu Dahal took two wickets.
On May 30, Birgunj and Nepalgunj locks horns while Biratnagar plays Kathmandu at TU Ground.
