Nepal’s blind cricketers bat to dispel prejudice
Pawan Ghimire, a major in the Nepalese army, only became aware of the difficulties faced by blind people after he lost his own sight in an ambush by Maoist rebels during the country’s civil war. Ten years later, he is waging a campaign to revolutionise perceptions of disability in this deeply traditional Hindu country and has organised a series of cricket tournaments for blind players — including women.

TU now ok for int’l matches: ICC
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has lifted the conditional ban on the TU Ground to host international matches after an inspection. ICC chief Executive, in his letter to Binaya Raj Pandey, the president of Cricket Association of Nepal, said: “I am pleased to confirm that international matches can continue to be staged at the ground with immediate effect.”

Kathmandu completes title hattrick
Region No 3 Kathmandu, riding on the all round performance of skipper Paras Khadka, won the title of Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. The victory completed a hat-trick of Kathmandu on winning the title of the national tournament. Defending champions Kathmandu defeated Region No 1 Biratnagar by six wickets in the final match played at the TU Cricket Ground.

Biratnagar, Kathmandu to fight for title
Region No 1 Biratnagar set up a final clash with Region No 3 Kathmandu in the Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. Biratnagar defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 29 runs on Friday at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds. Kathmandu defeated Region No 4 Bhairahawa by five wickets at the TU Ground.

Baitadi qualifies for first semifinal
Region No 6 Baitadi defeated Region No 3 Kathmandu by five wickets during the Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament to book their first semifinal berth in any national level tournament. After Baitadi beat Kathmandu in the group A match, Region No 2 Birgunj got out of the tournament as they remained at the bottom of the group because of net run rate.

Binod inspires Birgunj to victory
Region No 1 Biratnagar and Region No 2 Birgunj won their respective matches in the ongoing Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. Both had lost their matches on Tuesday and their hopes of reaching the semifinals are alive after Wednesday´s victories. Birgunj defeated Region No 6 Baitadi at the IOE Ground in a Group A match. Biratnagar defeated Region No 5 Nepalgunj by four wickets at the TU Ground in a Group B match.

Kathmandu, Bhairahawa register win
Region No 4 Bhairahawa and Region No 3 Kathmandu won their respective matches on the opening day of the Pepsi One Day National League Cricket Tournament at the TU Ground. In Group A match, Kathmandu defeated Region No 2 Birgunj by 66 runs while Bhairahawa outplayed Region No 1 Biratnagar by 8 wickets in Group B.

Region No 1 Biratnagar won the title of the Pepsi T20 Men´s National League Cricket Tournament. Biratnagar defeated Region No 4 Bhairahawa by eight runs in the final match played at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds on Monday.

Kathmandu lifts Woman’s T20 title
Region No 3 Kathmandu stunned Region No 5 Nepalgunj by becoming the Wai Wai Woman’s Twenty20 National League champions at the TU Ground. In a low-total match, Kathmandu bowled out Nepalgunj for 46 in 16.4 overs to register a eight-run win after scoring 54 in 16 overs.

Bhairahawa enters men’s T20 final
Region No 4 Bhairahawa entered into the final of the Pepsi T20 Men´s National League defeating Region No 2 Birgunj by 89 runs at the Pulchowk Cricket Ground. Electing to bat first, Bhairahawa compiled 132 runs in the limited 20 overs losing nine wickets. Bhairahawa had a disastrous start as they were at 8 runs losing two wickets.

Kathmandu sets up final with Nepalgunj
Region No 3 Kathmandu set up the final clash with Region No 5 Nepalgunj in the Wai Wai Women´s Twenty20 National League as it defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 14 runs at the TU Cricket Grounds. Winning the toss, Kathmandu elected to bat first and piled up 104 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing three wickets. Captain Neera Rajopadhyay struck 38 runs off 34 balls while Nima Tamang scored 26 off 51 balls. Geeta Chudal contributed 14 runs off 30 balls while Baitadi gave away 20 extra runs.

Defending champions Region No 3 Kathmandu kept up the hope of qualifying to the final of the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League defeating Region No 5 Nepalgunj by 7 wickets at the IOE Ground. Gyanendra Malla scored unbeaten 65 as Kathmandu chased Nepalgunj’s 103/7 with 19 balls remaining losing only three wickets.

Region No 1 Biratnagar defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by a run in a nail-biting finish in the Wai Wai Women’s Twenty20 National League at the TU Ground. After the result, both teams are tied at third place with two wins from four matches while Kathmandu is at second place with three wins from four.
