Region No 4 Bhairahawa stunned Region No 3 Kathmandu by five wickets during the Pepsi T20 Men´s National Cricket Tournament on Wednesday to top the league table.
Kathmandu elected to bat first but could not perform with the bat at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds. They put up a small total of 84 runs in 20 overs losing nine wickets.
Dipesh Khatri took Kathmandu´s three wickets in the first three balls of the 19th over but with a wide in between his first and second success. Shakti Gauchan took three wickets.
Paresh Lohani (26 runs) and Paras Khadka (13 runs) were the only batsmen to score in double figures.
In reply, Bhairahawa met the target in 18.4 overs losing five wickets. Subash Pradhan (35 runs), man-of-the match Dipesh Khatri (unbeaten 17 runs) and Antim Thapa (12 runs) were the highest contributors for the team.
Bhairahawa, with two wins from two matches, top the league table.
Likewise, Baitadi opened their account in the league round as they beat Nepalgunj by a wicket in the second match of the day.
Nepalgunj put up 80 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets. Sandeep Shrestha contributed the highest 21 runs for Nepalgunj.
Bhuwan Karki and Shakti Bhandari took two wickets each for Baitadi.
In the low scoring match, Baitadi met the target in 19.2 overs losing nine wickets. Man-of-the-match Pradeep Airee scored unbeaten 47 runs off 48 balls and took Baitadi to victory. No other batsman scored in double digit.
Nasir Ansari seized 3 wickets for Nepalgunj to turn the match into a thriller.
