Hong Kong defeated Nepal by 30 runs in the Asian Games 2010. Both Nepal and Hong Kong have a game against Maldives and if Hong Kong beats Maldives it will proceed for the quartefinals against Afghanistan.
Hong Kong won the toss and scored 115/7 in 20 overs. Nepal was restricted to 85/9 in 20 overs.
Hong Kong rode on Roy Lamsam’s 47 and Waqar Barkatt’s 31 to make a defendable total after losing two early wickets. The pair added 67 runs for fifth wicket after the team was down to 47/4.
Amrit Bhattarai was pick of the bowler taking 3/16 – including a wicket in first over and two in the last. Binod Das and Mehboob Alam each took a wicket.
In reply, Nepal lacked partnership and big scoring batsman. Sharad Vesawkar (16), Basant Regmi (15), Paras Khadka (13), Mahesh Chhetri (10) and Gyanendra Mall (8) all got start but failed to continue. Nadeem Ahmed grabbed three wickets.
