Region No 3 (Kathmandu) and Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) registered consecutive wins on the second day of the Wai Wai U-19 National League on Friday.
Kathmandu defeated Region No 1 Biratnagar by nine wickets at the TU Cricket Ground while Bhairahawa eased past Region No 6 Baitadi by five wickets at the Pulchowk Cricket Ground.
Kathmandu Captain Prithu Baskota claimed four wickets and bundled Biratnagar for 62 runs in 26.3 overs. Man of the match Baskota bowled four overs, kept a maiden and gave away only 11 runs claiming four wickets. Anup Karki (12 runs) and Somesh Kumar Yadav (10 runs) were the only Biratnagar batsmen to score in double digits.
The highest contribution for Biratnagar came through 15 extras bowled by Kathmandu. Rupesh Shrivastav took two wickets for Kathmandu.
In reply, Kathmandu met the target in 13.3 overs losing only a wicket. Opener Subash Khakurel, who had struck 144 runs against Nepalgunj on Thursday, got out early on Friday with eight runs in his personal account. However, Sharad Khadka (unbeaten 16 runs) and Ujjwal Thapa (unbeaten 26 runs) guided Kathmandu to an easy victory.
In another match of the tournament, Bhairahawa skipper Sagar Pun struck unbeaten 61 runs to secure second victory for his team in a run chase of 148 runs.
Sushan Bhari took three wickets and Bal Bahadur Thapa claimed other two to bowl Baitadi out for 147 runs in 45.2 overs. Suresh Chand (32 runs), Bikram Thalal (29 runs) and Gokul Joshi (29 runs) were the top three contributors for Baitadi.
In reply, skipper Pun anchored Bhairahawa innings with the half-century and the team scored 151/5 in 32.3 overs.
Bhairahawa and Kathmandu have four points each with two consecutive wins in Group ´A´ and ´B´ of the tournament respectively.
