The newly appointed Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) expressed commitment to conduct ACC Twenty20 Cup successfully and hold the election within two months.
“We want to express full commitment to two mandates given to us – the election and the ACC T20 Cup, within two months,” CAN president Tanka Aanbuhang said in his first appearance to the press.
“We are only focused on those two agendas,” he added.
Aanbuhang, who is also the central committee member of Nepal’s largest political party the UCPN (Maoist), added that he is a politician and wouldn’t stay in CAN long to affect his political career. “My candidacy to CAN election is not confirmed yet,” he said.

While asked about his capacity to run cricket without prior knowledge to the game, Aanbuhang said that a PhD in sports in not needed to run administration. “I have a team which consists of very experienced people in cricket, and as a team we would be successful,” he said reiterating that he is in cricket with a mandate for two months.
The President also added that the election would be held with representation of districts.
Vice-president TB Shah added that the present district committees would not be dissolved. “The representatives nominated by the present district committees will participate in the general assembly,” Shah said.
Shah also added that all 37 districts participating in the national tournament would participate in the general assembly and election.
General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel said that the committee would be successful. “We are working right and we will succeed, that’s it,” he said.
During the program, CAN also shared the decisions of the board meeting and briefed about the meeting with ACC Events Manager Sultan Rana and ACC Development Officer Rumesh Ratnayake held on Tuesday regarding the ACC Twenty20 Cup.
