Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) will hold the first-ever general assembly and election on December 18, the ad-hoc committee meeting on Thursday decided.
National Sports Council (NSC) had dissolved the Binay Raj Pandey-led executive committee of the CAN and appointed UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Member Tanka Angbuhang as its president on October 26.
The Pandey committee was dissolved by NSC stating that it has not called electoral general assembly despite NSC had given deadlines twice for it.
The ad-hoc committee led by Angbuhang had expressed commitment to hold the election within two months of its formation.
NSC has endorsed CAN statute with amendments on November 30.
Meanwhile, the CAN decided to establish a players’ welfare fund called ‘Cricket Association of Nepal Cricketers Welfare Fund’. “The fund will be a respect for the cricketers,” states a press release issued by CAN on Friday.
