Asian Cricket Council (ACC) slapped a 10 per cent penalty on the capital and development grant for Nepal as Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) failed to submit the financial report within the deadline, a national daily reported.
“ACC has sent a letter to CAN regarding the penalty after CAN fails to submit financial report of fourth quarter of 2011 within January 20,” Nagarik daily stated.
ACC provides USD 1.75 million annual capital and development grant and USD 1.6 million as administrative grant to Nepal.
The newspaper also reported that CAN general secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel, who was out of the town, said that he had not been informed. “We sent the report after asking International Cricket Council (ICC) to extend deadline,” he was quoted.
Each member nation are required to send the financial reporting in an ICC template. ICC runs annual workshop for completion of the template. During the last training in Malaysia, CAN member Prakash Ghimire represented Nepal.
He was quoted as saying he had no idea about all this as he was no more a member of CAN.
