Nepal has been placed in Group B for the ACC U-16 Elite Cup. In the recently published group division by ACC, Nepal has been kept with Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iran. The matches will be played in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia.
The tournament, which is to be played during May 2 – 13 this year, will have participation from 10 Non-Test playing nations in Asia. In the other pool, Group A, Singapore has been placed along with Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Oman.
Singapore is the defending champions of the Cup. In the first edition of the championship in March 2010, Singapore had defeated Nepal to lift the title. Nepal’s Nischal Pandey had been declared man of the series in the tourney. He was also named best bowler of the championship.
With just over two months left for the championship, Cricket Association of Nepal has an arduous task of conducting selection right from district level to the regional levels.
