Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced an 18-member preliminary Nepali squad on Friday for the upcoming ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
The preliminary squad includes Karuna Bhandari, Rubina Chhetri, Indu Berma, Nerry Thapa, Mamata Kumari Chaudhary, Sangita Gauchan, Geeta Chudal, Rekha Rawal, Trishna Singh and Sarita Magar. Likewise, Shilu Rijal, Mamta Thapa, Roshani Bohara, Shova Aale, Neera Rajopadhyaya, Rashmi Sharma Chaulagain, Sonu Khadka and Sita Rana Magar are also called in the closed camp training of the preliminary squad.
The CAN is set to start the closed camp training of the Nepali women’s team inKathmandufrom Sunday.
The CAN has recently conducted Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament in Pokhara last week.
According to the CAN General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal, coach Shyamson Thapa will look after the team in the closed camp training.
The ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in Guangzhou, China from October 22 to November 1.
Nepal is slated on group B of the tournament along with Bangladesh, Chinaand Sri Lanka. Hong Kong,India, Pakistan and Thailand are placed in group A. Nepal is to take on Sri Lanka in its first match of the tournament on October 25. Nepal will face Bangladesh on October 26 and China on October 29.
