Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) and Region No 2 (Birgunj) secured semifinal berths from the pool B in the Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament being held in Pokhara as rain washed-out Tuesday’s match between Bhairahawa and Region No 8 (Pokhara).
Following the no result on Tuesday, Bhairahawa and Pokhara shared a point each and Pokhara suffered crash out from the tournament. Had the match played and had Pokhara won it, the host team had chances of reaching semifinals.
Bhairahawa has five points from three matches while Birgunj has four points from three matches. As Pokhara had to share point with Bhairahawa on Tuesday, it has only three points from three matches. Region No 7 (Janakpur) had already crashed out of the tournament without any point.
Bhairahawa will take on runner-up of pool A in the semifinal while Birgunj will lock horns with the winner of group A.
Region No 1 (Biratnagar), Region No 3 (Kathmandu), Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) and Region No 6 (Baitadi) are slated in the pool A of the tournament. The group stage matches of the pool A will start from Wednesday. Biratnagar will take on Nepalgunj in the first match of pool A on Wednesday.
