Rain in Pokhara washed out yet another match of Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.
The first match of the pool A between Region No 1 (Biratnagar) and Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) was called off after the completion of an innings.
The match was initially reduced to 27 overs each. Biratnagar won the toss and elected to field first. However, the rain stopped the match in the mid of innings. Nepalgunj was all out for 132 runs in 26.4 overs.
After the first innings, the match was again reduced to 24 overs applying D/L method and Biratnagar received 124 runs target.
Biratnagar reached 32/3 in nine overs but the match was called off due to insufficient time to commence required number of overs.
Earlier, Pravin Giri scored 32 runs off 35 balls and Siddharth Shahi clobbered 28 runs off 26 balls to take Nepalgunj to 132/10. Wasim Halwai added 22 runs and Rahul Pokharel scored 15 runs.
Amit Dahal completed five-wicket haul for Biratnagar. His bowling figure was 6-2-13-5. Rohit Singh and Hemen Rai claimed a wicket each.
Biratnagar was in problem while chasing the target losing early wickets. Amar Singh Routel has taken two wickets and Siddhant Raj Shahi has claimed a wicket to put Biratnagar on trouble but the unfavorable condition forced match referee to call off the match.
Following the no result, Nepalgunj and Biratnagar shared a point each in the pool A of the tournament.
Rain had forced to call off the last group stage match of pool B, the match between Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) and Region No 8 (Pokhara) on Tuesday.
Region No 3 (Kathmandu) will take on Biratnagar on Thursday.
