APF, Nepalgunj, KTM win consecutive matches

Nepal APF Club, Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) and Region No 3 (Kathmandu) registered consecutive second victory on Friday in the Pepsi Standard Chartered T20 National Cricket Tournament. APF, which defeated Region No 8 (Pokhara) on Thursday in the first match, thrashed Region No 2 (Birgunj) by 76 runs on Friday at the Pulchowk Engineering College Ground, Lalitpur. APF elected to bat first and put up 148/5 in allotted 20 overs as Sharad Vesawkar scored unbeaten 32 runs while Basant Regmi added unbeaten 26. Thapa hits six sixes in an over

Wicket-keeper batsman Akash Thapa of Chitawan district cricket team achieved a rare feat in cricket on Monday as he hit six sixes off an over in a match of the regional selection tournament of Region No 8 (Pohara) for the upcoming National T20 Tournament. Thapa clobbered all the six balls out of the boundary in the 10th over of the innings bowled by off-spinner Rikesh Gupta of Syangja. Thapa scored 86 runs off 38 balls in the match. Vesawkar awarded Nepali citizenship

After representing Nepali cricket for 11 years at the international level, cricketer Sharad Vesawkar received a naturalized citizenship of the country only on Sunday under the provision of Nepal Citizenship Act 2063. Home Ministry handed over the citizenship certificate to Vesawkar on Sunday as a recognition for his special contribution to Nepali sport. Vesawkar had taken an oath promising that he would always be loyal to the nation. Vesawkar, a son of Nepali mother and Indian father, had been seeking citizenship certificate for the last 15 years.
