Gyanendra ton powers Nepal to victory over Singapore

All-round performance sees Uganda topple Nepal

The first day of Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 has seen Uganda secure a 20-run victory over defending champion Nepal. At the Kinrara Oval, Uganda scored 203 for eight and then dismissed Nepal for 183. In the main feature of the day, a 137-run sixth-wicket partnership between Phillemon Mukobe (84) and Brian Masaba (51) helped Uganda recover from 23 for five in 13.3 overs to 203 for eight in 50 overs after it had been put into bat by Nepal. Squad, match officials announced for WCL 3

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the six squads that will travel to Malaysia for Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 3, which will be played from 23 to 30 October. Bermuda, Nepal, Singapore, Uganda, USA and host Malaysia will lock horns in the eight-day round robin tournament to earn a top two finish, and ultimately gain promotion to Pepsi ICC WCL Div. 2, which will be played in Namibia from 17 January 2015. Bhawana Ghimire becomes new CEO of CAN

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Bhawana Ghimire as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Likewise, it has also appointed Prakash Maharjan as the finance manager. The decision comes 10 months after a directive by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). According to acting general secretary of CAN Uttam Karmacharya, both will assume their duties from October 18. CAN has appointed them for a six month term. Afghanistan thrashes Nepali medal hope

Afghan jinx continued to haunt Nepal, as it failed to beat the arch-rivals again. Team Nepal lost to Afghanistan in the quarterfinals of 17th Asian Games Men’s cricket competition, by 8 runs, in Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday. The loss meant that Nepal crashed out of the 17th Asian Games. Chasing 120-run target set by Afghanistan, Nepal could only make 111 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.
