Batting woes continue as Oman beat Nepal by 6 wickets
The batting woes continued for Nepal on the second day of the World Cricket League Division 2 that resulted in a loss against Oman. Asked to bat first, Nepal were bundled out for 138 in 46 overs. Oman needed 35.1 overs to register a victory losing four wickets on the way. Nepal saw a few batsmen get a start but their failure to convert the start into big score. Nepal is taking on hosts Namibia in the opening fixture of ICC World Cricket League Division 2 on February 8. With top two teams, getting spots in the World Cup Qualifiers next month in Zimbabwe, Nepal has its eye set on the top prize. Mixed results for Nepal in WCL Div 2 preparation tour
Nepal’s preparation for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Division 2 ended with mixed results after a loss in third and final preparatory match against the UAE ‘A’ on February 2. Nepal won two and lost one against the same opponents. In the first match played on January 30, Nepal registered a 25 run victory after bundling out home team for 221 in 48.4 overs. ACC release calendar of events for 2018
Nepal will play the Asia Cup Qualifiers in September, according to calendar of events for 2018 released by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The Asia Cup Qualifiers, to be hosted by India, will be six-team event with Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore, and UAE with the winner qualifying for the Asia Cup 2018 later the same month. The participants are 6 best ranked Associate teams in Asia. The winner will join five Asian Test nations – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, for the Asia Cup 2018. Sandeep Lamichhanee becomes the first Nepali cricketer to be drafted in by an Indian Premier League team as the Delhi Daredevils bought the 17-year-old Nepali leg-spinner for his base price of INRs 20 lakh (NRs. 32 lakh) at the IPL Auction on January 28. ICC delegation to visit Nepal for progress discussions
A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) will arrive in Nepal this weekend to progress discussions aimed at enabling the reinstatement of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to ICC membership. The objective of the visit, led by ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja, is to agree on the final steps to getting Nepal’s suspension lifted and reinstated into membership of the ICC. This involves, amongst other things, the adoption of an updated Constitution which all parties agree is needed to lay a solid foundation for the good governance of the sport in Nepal. 2018 WCL Div 2 Schedule Announced
Nepal will take on hosts Namibia in the curtain-raiser of the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 at Affies Park, Windhoek (WAP) on February 8, 2018. The six-team tournament – also consisting Kenya, Canada, Oman and UAE – is the qualifier for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018. The second edition of much awaited Dhangadhi Premier League is set to roll from March 31 at the SSP Ground in Dhangadhi. Nepal announced a preliminary squad of 21 players for the ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournamnet to be held in Namibia from February 6 to 16, 2018. Nepal lost to Hong Kong by 83 runs in the ICC World Cricket League Championship round six match at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok. ICC plans two-tier Test cricket; Opportunity for Associate nations
If ICC chief executive officer David Richardson has his way, Nepal could be playing the second-tier Test cricket as early as 2019. ICC sets conditions to lift CAN suspension
David Richardson, the Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has written a formal letter to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on the recent decision to suspend the cricket governing body of Nepal. In the letter to Chatur Bahadur Chand, the ‘elected committee’ President of CAN, dated 22 May 2016, Richardson pointed out reasons for suspension, the consequences of suspension and the conditions to be satisfied by CAN in order for the suspension to be lifted.
