Kathmandu completes title hattrick

Region No 3 Kathmandu, riding on the all round performance of skipper Paras Khadka, won the title of Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. The victory completed a hat-trick of Kathmandu on winning the title of the national tournament. Defending champions Kathmandu defeated Region No 1 Biratnagar by six wickets in the final match played at the TU Cricket Ground.

Biratnagar, Kathmandu to fight for title

Region No 1 Biratnagar set up a final clash with Region No 3 Kathmandu in the Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. Biratnagar defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 29 runs on Friday at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds. Kathmandu defeated Region No 4 Bhairahawa by five wickets at the TU Ground.

Baitadi qualifies for first semifinal

Region No 6 Baitadi defeated Region No 3 Kathmandu by five wickets during the Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament to book their first semifinal berth in any national level tournament. After Baitadi beat Kathmandu in the group A match, Region No 2 Birgunj got out of the tournament as they remained at the bottom of the group because of net run rate.

Binod inspires Birgunj to victory

Region No 1 Biratnagar and Region No 2 Birgunj won their respective matches in the ongoing Pepsi One Day National Cricket Tournament. Both had lost their matches on Tuesday and their hopes of reaching the semifinals are alive after Wednesday´s victories. Birgunj defeated Region No 6 Baitadi at the IOE Ground in a Group A match. Biratnagar defeated Region No 5 Nepalgunj by four wickets at the TU Ground in a Group B match.

Kathmandu, Bhairahawa register win

Region No 4 Bhairahawa and Region No 3 Kathmandu won their respective matches on the opening day of the Pepsi One Day National League Cricket Tournament at the TU Ground. In Group A match, Kathmandu defeated Region No 2 Birgunj by 66 runs while Bhairahawa outplayed Region No 1 Biratnagar by 8 wickets in Group B.

Biratnagar wins men’s Twenty20

Region No 1 Biratnagar won the title of the Pepsi T20 Men´s National League Cricket Tournament. Biratnagar defeated Region No 4 Bhairahawa by eight runs in the final match played at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds on Monday.

Kathmandu lifts Woman’s T20 title

Region No 3 Kathmandu stunned Region No 5 Nepalgunj by becoming the Wai Wai Woman’s Twenty20 National League champions at the TU Ground. In a low-total match, Kathmandu bowled out Nepalgunj for 46 in 16.4 overs to register a eight-run win after scoring 54 in 16 overs.

Bhairahawa enters men’s T20 final

Region No 4 Bhairahawa entered into the final of the Pepsi T20 Men´s National League defeating Region No 2 Birgunj by 89 runs at the Pulchowk Cricket Ground. Electing to bat first, Bhairahawa compiled 132 runs in the limited 20 overs losing nine wickets. Bhairahawa had a disastrous start as they were at 8 runs losing two wickets.

Kathmandu sets up final with Nepalgunj

Region No 3 Kathmandu set up the final clash with Region No 5 Nepalgunj in the Wai Wai Women´s Twenty20 National League as it defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 14 runs at the TU Cricket Grounds. Winning the toss, Kathmandu elected to bat first and piled up 104 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing three wickets. Captain Neera Rajopadhyay struck 38 runs off 34 balls while Nima Tamang scored 26 off 51 balls. Geeta Chudal contributed 14 runs off 30 balls while Baitadi gave away 20 extra runs.

Kathmandu keeps slim hope beating Nepalgunj

Defending champions Region No 3 Kathmandu kept up the hope of qualifying to the final of the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League defeating Region No 5 Nepalgunj by 7 wickets at the IOE Ground. Gyanendra Malla scored unbeaten 65 as Kathmandu chased Nepalgunj’s 103/7 with 19 balls remaining losing only three wickets.

Biratnagar beats Baitadi to keep hopes

Region No 1 Biratnagar defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by a run in a nail-biting finish in the Wai Wai Women’s Twenty20 National League at the TU Ground. After the result, both teams are tied at third place with two wins from four matches while Kathmandu is at second place with three wins from four.

Binod Das bowled a dream spell taking six wickets in three overs to keep Region No 2 Birgunj in hunt of the spot in the final of the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League at IOE Ground. With Binod’s record-breaking 6/6, Birgunj defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 3 wickets as Region No 4 Bhairahawa continued unbeaten run with a 25-run win over Region No 5 Nepalgunj.

Region No 4 Bhairahawa stunned Region No 3 Kathmandu by five wickets during the Pepsi T20 Men´s National Cricket Tournament on Wednesday to top the league table. Kathmandu elected to bat first but could not perform with the bat at the Pulchowk Cricket Grounds. They put up a small total of 84 runs in 20 overs losing nine wickets.

Nepalgunj enters women’s final

Region No 5 Nepalgunj entered the final of the Wai Wai Women´s National League Cricket Tournament on Wednesday while Region No 2 Birgunj and Region No 4 Bhairahawa were eliminated from the group stage. Nepalgunj defeated Bhairahawa by 27 runs on Wednesday at the TU Cricket Grounds, Kirtipur.

Region No 1 Biratnagar registered their second consecutive victory in the Pepsi T20 Men´s National League Cricket Tournament stunning defending champions Region No 3 Kathmandu by four runs at the IOE Ground. Biratnagar, batting first, put up 113 runs losing seven wickets and restricted Kathmandu to 109/9 in a last-over thriller.

Birgunj loses third, Baitadi victorious

Region No 2 Birgunj almost lost any chance of progress in the ongoing Wai Wai Women´s T20 National Cricket Tournament as Region No 1 Biratnagar handed them a third straight defeat on Monday at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Biratnagar thrashed Birgunj by a huge margin of 59 runs. Batting first, Biratnagar compiled 102 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing seven wickets and bowled out Birgunj for 43 runs in 14.1 overs.

Men’s T20 begins with Kathmandu’s record win

Defending champions Region No 3 Kathmandu thrashed Region No 2 Birgunj in a record-breaking match of the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at the IOE Ground. Kathmandu scored 194/5 in 20 overs and restricted Birgunj for 132/6 for a huge 62-run victory on the opening day while Region No 1 Biratnagar defeated Region No 5 Nepalgunj by 9 wickets.

Second victory for Kathmandu, Nepalgunj

Region No 3 Kathmandu and Region No 5 Nepalgunj registered their second victories in the Wai Wai Women’s Twenty20 National Cricket Tournament at the TU Ground. Kathmandu beat Region No 1 Biratnagar by 5 runs while Nepalgunj outplayed Region No 2 Birgunj by 10 wickets. It was second loss for both losing sides.

Players end boycott, league to begin

Cricketers withdrew their boycott after talks with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as both parties agree to form a seven-member committee to strengthen relations between them. The players will now compete in the Pepsi Twenty20 National League, beginning on May 30 – a day late than scheduled. “CAN expressed commitments towards our demands,” captain Paras Khadka told Cricket Nepal. “We will play in the national leagues.”

Kathmandu, Nepalgunj win

Region No 3 Kathmandu and Region No 5 Nepalgunj registered victories on the first day of the Wai Wai Women’s Twenty20 National League at TU Ground. Kathmandu beat Region No 2 Birgunj and Nepalgunj defeated Region No 1 Biratnagar by identical margin of seven wickets scoring identical 57 runs for victory.

Players boycott national leagues

National players announced that they would boycott the national leagues beginning Saturday protesting the indifference of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) towards development of cricket. “We will continue training at the closed-camp because the World Cricket League Division IV is a very important tournament for the nation’s cricket,” captain Paras Khadka said in a press conference. “But we will not play the national leagues.”

National leagues announced as monsoon begins

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced three national leagues within a month in yet another haste decision as the seasons of monsoon begins in Kathmandu. On May 29, two national leagues – the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League and the Wai Wai Women’s National Twenty20 National League – are scheduled to begin. On June 8, a day after the finals of both events, the Pepsi Men’s One-day National League begins.
