1996 to 2013: A Journey with Purpose
It is time to stand up and give a prolonged applause to Paras and Team Nepal for their wonderful achievement!! Indeed we have dearth of words to thank them for making the dream come true of Nepal entering World Cup. The journey started in 1996 and memories are still fresh in my mind. All the players of the ’96 team were skeptical about flying to play first ACC Trophy in Malaysia until we boarded the Thai Airways flight to Bangkok and then to Malaysia. Once we boarded the flight we told to each other “aba ta udine bho” (Now we will fly). Nepali Cricket has come long way since then, at international level, with several achievements to cherish. A lot… Read More

It’s Not Only Luck
Nepal qualified for ICC T 20 World Cup Qualifier after entering into semi final of ongoing ACC T 20 Tournament here in Kathmandu. It may be the co incident that after ICC World Cricket League Division 5 held here in February 2010, Nepal again qualified on the basis of net run rate. Lot of people including leading media of the country is not hesitant to call it a Nepal’s luck to qualify for the semi final. However, I have a different view here and totally disagree with those who term our qualification as a matter of luck. First thing we got to remember that net run rate comes in to play only when there are equal points of more number… Read More

Setting a Right Example
It seems that new era of sports have begun in the country with the real story of Nepalese sportsman winning a car worth 2.3 million in a domestic sporting event. It’s definitely a ray of hope for every sports person in the country that sports will soon become a career option. It seems that All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) team has clearly understood the basic fundamental that professionalism in the game is indispensable to improve its standard beyond certain level.

Transparency in Sport Institutions Must
Last week I had an opportunity to read a write up on the front page of leading Indian news paper The Economic Times about the audited financial statement of Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) for the year 2004/05.

Domestic Cricket: A Matter of Concern!!
All the cricket lovers in the country including me are building high hopes with Nepalese cricket. Why should not we? As we have seen some inspirational performance by our Nepalese team at both junior and senior level in recent past. However, being a cricketer my worries aggravates when I see the deteriorated domestic structure cricket in the country. For the development of the cricket it is imperative to have good domestic structure of the cricket.

CAN Need to Think About Profits
Last week I happened to be in the press meet organized by ICC development committee in Kathmandu. Cricket’s top most governing body’s head Mr. Ishan Mani (President ICC) and Mr. Malcam Speed (CEO) also spoke about cricket of Nepal. They expressed their appreciation for the performance of Nepalese Cricket Team at junior level. However, they also expressed the need for replicating junior level performance at senior level for Nepal’s transition to ODI status.

Dipendra Chaudhary is the key for ACC sucess
Nepal has entered into the semifinals of 4th ACC Trophy being held in Singapore. Though the journey up to here was much expected by all of us, now every one out here would be anxiously waiting to see how Nepal would proceed further. Especially, after awesome performance of U-19 Team in Youth World Cup in New Zealand last year, the cricket fans are more hopeful.
