Malaysia defeated China by 10 wickets in Bangi to claim third spot on a better net run-rate from Thailand after both teams wound up with seven points. Nepal register dramatic maiden ODI win by 1 run
Nepal achieved a dramatic last-ball victory over the Netherlands in a low-scoring thriller in the second ODI at Amstelveen to level the two-match series 1-1. With the home side requiring six to win from the final over with just one wicket remaining, Nepal captain Paras Khadka (1/24 off six) held his nerve, going for just four runs and executing a run out off the final delivery to secure a one-run win. He deflected a firm drive back onto the stumps before collecting the rebound and ripping a stump out of the ground to make sure, and spark wild celebrations. With the visitors defending 216, the Netherlands made hard work of the chase as Nepal’s attack gave nothing away in a… Read More

First-ever ODI match for Nepal today
There are only a handful of cricket matches in history where the start of the match is more important and significant that the result of the match; even fewer matches when both teams are looking forward to the start more than the results. The Netherlands vs Nepal on August 1, 2018, at the VRA Ground in Armsterdam will go down in the history as one such match. It’s first ever One Day International (ODI) match for Nepal – and it also marks the return of the Netherlands, who already have played 79 ODIs, to the ODI after four years. For Nepal, it’s a dream come true – albeit a bit late for older fans as the country’s cricket held that… Read More

This has been such a long, amazing journey for Nepal cricket but playing our first ever One-Day Internationals against the Netherlands is only the beginning. I hope we can keep this going and continue to grow because our next goal is to become a Test-playing country. We have worked hard for ODI status and the games against the Netherlands are opportunities for us to explore ourselves, enjoy the experience… Read More

Nepal’s return to T20I dampened by rain at Lord’s
Nepal’s returned to T20 international after three years was dampened by the rain as the match against the Netherlands was abandoned at the Lord’s Cricket Ground after 16.4 overs. The Netherlands scored 174/4 in 16.4 overs in the damp conditions utilizing a short boundary and inability of Nepali spinners to grip the ball. The match was called off as the rain continued. Nepal won the toss and invited the Netherlands to bat first – probably in view of the revised total if the match was to be disrupted. Basanta Regmi, bowling the second over, bowled Tobias Visee for 11. It was a good start given that Visee has scored 58 not out in 6-over-a-side match against MCC earlier on the… Read More

Nepal beat Hong Kong to keep alive ODI hopes
For Hong Kong, it was a simple formula in last match of the first round of the World Cup Qualifiers 2018: beat Nepal to go to Super Sixes and retain ODI status. For Afghanistan, who had just one victory against Nepal from four matches, it was even simpler: Nepal beat Hong and they are through. For Nepal, Super Sixes was mathematically possible, practically not, but a victory meant there was still a chance to get ODI status for next four years. Nepal’s five-wicket victory over Hong Kong in Bulawayo made Nepal and Afghanistan happier and Hong Kong sadder. Hong Kong reduced Nepal to 66/5 in pursuit of only 154 for victory. But an outstanding unbroken stand of 89 for the… Read More

WCQ 2018: Zimbabwe makes merry of Nepal’s bowling
Zimbabwe scored 380 for 6 in 50 overs. The match ended right there for Nepal. It’s was the biggest total that any team had scored against Nepal, a team that always performed brilliantly with balls and poorly with the bat. However, Nepal could have salvaged little pride from the loss batting 50 overs and scoring some runs. That was exactly the case – Nepal batted 50 overs; scored 264 runs and didn’t lose all wickets. Two of the batsmen scored half-centuries and players, young and experienced, had some good, morale boosting batting practice going into next matches of the World Cup Qualifiers 2018. Nepal lost the match by 116 runs. Punishing centuries by Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor helped the… Read More
