Independent Panel meet to progress Nepal elections under revised constitution
The reinstatement of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has taken another step forward, with the first in-person meeting of the five-member Independent Panel tasked with overseeing the election process under the terms of the revised constitution which was unanimously adopted by CAN in April 2018. Facilitated by ICC Deputy Chairman, Imran Khwaja, the meeting of the Independent Panel comprised of three representatives nominated by the ICC, Muhammad Ali, Head of Internal Audit; Ammar Shaikh, Senior Manager – Strategic Projects and Niteesha Kothari, Finance and Operations Officer – Asia. MCC announces partnership to support cricket in Nepal
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the world’s most active cricket club, the owner of Lord’s Ground and the guardian of the Laws of the game establihed in 1787, has announced its intention to introduce into its overseas touring programme a series of Legacy Tours, aimed at leaving a sustainable and meaningful impact in developing cricket nations. The first country that MCC will visit as part of the new initiative is Nepal. ICC adds Sandeep to World XI for T20I against the Windies at Lord’s
Nepal wrist-spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane, one of the brightest young cricketers on the circuit, has beenadded to the ICC World XI squad for the 31 May T20I against the Windies. The match will be played at Lord’s and all the proceeds will be used to redevelop the stadia in the Caribbean, which were damaged due to hurricanes last year. Cricket Players Association of Nepal elects new committee
Cricket Players Association Nepal (CPAN) elected new executive committee headed by Dr Manish Raj Pandey during it’s 3rd Annual General Assembly. The Assembly elected Dr Pandey and 11 other members of the committee unanimously. Former captain Raju Khadka and Sita Rana Magar were elected the vice presidents while captain Paras Khadka was elected as the General Secretary. Hong Kong and Nepal chasing qualification to ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in final matches of Round Six
The final fixtures of round six in the ICC World Cricket League Championship are about to get underway as Hong Kong host Nepal, with both teams still in contention for a top-four direct qualification spot to the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier (CWCQ) next year. Positive meetings held as part of process to re-admit CAN in ICC
A series of positive meetings of the Nepal Advisory Group concluded this weekend in Kathmandu as part of the process to re-admit the Cricket Association of Nepal as a member of the International Cricket Council. The Nepal Advisory Group, which consists of various stakeholders of cricket in Nepal, was formed by the ICC to recommend amendments to the constitution of the CAN so that elections can be conducted subsequently as per the revised constitution. At the meeting, the advisory group agreed on a Terms of Reference for the work and a community consultation process by which members of the Nepalese cricket community will give inputs for the revised Constitution. Paras Khadka’s all-round star turn propelled Nepal to a 19-run victory over the Netherlands in the ICC World Cricket League Championship match between the two sides at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen on August 15. Clarke invites Sandeep to train in Australia

ICC plans two-tier Test cricket; Opportunity for Associate nations
If ICC chief executive officer David Richardson has his way, Nepal could be playing the second-tier Test cricket as early as 2019. Richardson revealed that ICC could unveil plans for the introduction of two divisions in Test cricket, and, potentially, a number of new Test nations within a next few weeks. ICC sets conditions to lift CAN suspension
David Richardson, the Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has written a formal letter to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on the recent decision to suspend the cricket governing body of Nepal. In the letter to Chatur Bahadur Chand, the ‘elected committee’ President of CAN, dated 22 May 2016, Richardson pointed out reasons for suspension, the consequences of suspension and the conditions to be satisfied by CAN in order for the suspension to be lifted. Dream Fapla releases design for proposed international stadium

ICC suspends CAN over government interference
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for indefinite period. Although CAN will remain suspended and receive no ICC funding, the players would be able to participate in ICC events. The decision was taken during the ICC Board meeting on April 24 in Dubai. ICC to discuss Nepal on April 21: Anderson
Stating that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is not engaging with any group of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Tim Anderson, the Head of Global Development, said that the cricket’s global governing body would discuss Nepal on April 21. The first day of Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 has seen Uganda secure a 20-run victory over defending champion Nepal. At the Kinrara Oval, Uganda scored 203 for eight and then dismissed Nepal for 183. Bhawana Ghimire becomes new CEO of CAN
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Bhawana Ghimire as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Likewise, it has also appointed Prakash Maharjan as the finance manager. The decision comes 10 months after a directive by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). According to acting general secretary of CAN Uttam Karmacharya, both will assume their duties from October 18. CAN has appointed them for a six month term. Afghanistan thrashes Nepali medal hope
Afghan jinx continued to haunt Nepal, as it failed to beat the arch-rivals again. Team Nepal lost to Afghanistan in the quarterfinals of 17th Asian Games Men’s cricket competition, by 8 runs, in Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday. Nepali bowling earned it an emphatic win over Kuwait in its first match at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Nepal U-16 gets elusive Asian title
Nepal has clinched the title that had eluded it for so long. The Nepali boys won the ACC U-16 Premier title defeating Malaysia by 32 runs in Malaysia today. The U-16 was the only tournament Nepal had not won so far in the age group cricket tournament at the ACC level. Earlier, Nepal had finished runner-up of the ACC U-16 Elite Cups twice, in 2010 in Nepal and in 2012 in Malaysia. Nepal becomes T20I nation
Nepal has been granted Twenty20 international status by the ICC. The decision was taken at the ICC board at its annual conference in Melbourne on Saturday. Along with Nepal, Netherlands has also been given the status. The ICC statement reads, “The ICC Board has agreed to grant T20I status to Nepal and the Netherlands after both the countries qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014.
