We want to play World Cup: Baskota
Teenage cricketer Prithu Baskota, who made his national team debut in the 16th Asian Games, is the captain of Nepali U-19 team for the upcoming ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers. Baskota is the only player to lead Nepal in all age groups. Nepali U-15 team won the ACC U-15 Elite Cup in 2006 in Malaysia under the leadership of Baskota. He, then, led Nepali team to win the ACC U-17 Elite Cup in 2009 in Kathmandu. Baskota was the vice-captain of the Nepali team that participated in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup 2009 in Kuwait, where Nepal could not reach the final for the first time in 10 years and missed the chance to play World Cup Qualifiers.
Nepal ready for U-19 World Cup qualfiers
Ireland coach Jeremy Bray, in an interview on the eve of the ICC U-19 World Cup qualifiers, said: Nepal has a strong culture. Not only the host of the event Ireland but most of the participating nations have naturally taken Nepal as a strong team for the past performance in the U-19 World Cups. For Nepali team, who hope to rejoin the U-19 World Cup finishing top six in the 10-team event, the problems is the weather and the opening match against the regional competitor, Afghanistan.

Team, schedule for U-19 WC qualifiers
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced 14 players for the up coming ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers to be held on Ireland from July 28- August 9 on Tuesday. The players were kept in a closed-camp training in Kathmandu from June 6.
ICC Suspends Two Nepali U-19 Bowlers
International Cricket Council (ICC) has prohibited selection of two Nepali under-19 players in any national teams as a bowler for the suspect bowling action, a senior cricket official confirmed on Monday. “ICC sent us a correspondence reporting the suspect action of Sagar Khadka and Rahul Biswokarma,†Tanka Paneru, the general secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) informed.

West Indies Snatches Plate
West Indies bowlers dished out hostile bowling reminiscent of their glorious predecessors to hammer Nepal by seven wickets in the Plate Championship final of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Bayuemas Oval on Saturday. The pace attack led by man-of-the-match Jason Dawes, who took four wickets, utilized the early freshness of the pitch to bowl Nepal out for mere 74 runs in 25.3 overs in the rain shortened 27-overs match. The Caribbean batsmen then reached the modest target in just 14.2 overs losing three wickets to take the Plate title away from defending champion.

Plate Final is Nepal vs West Indies
Nepal must beat West Indies, a Test nation it has never played against, to defend the Plate Championship title at the Bayemas Oval on Saturday. West Indies qualified for the Plate final with an easy six-wicket win over Papua New Guinea on Wednesday. PNG were bowled out for 89 runs 36.5 overs and WI reached the target in just 15.3 overs losing four wickets.

Paras Leads Nepal to Plate Final
Captain Paras Khadka inspired Nepal to a thrilling four-run win over Namibia in the Plate Championship semifinal of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Johor Cricket Academy ground on Tuesday. The lanky all-rounder topscored with 44 after winning the toss to take Nepal to a challenging score of 143/8 in the rain curtailed 34-overs match and then took two wickets apart from affecting a run out with a direct hit to condemn Namibia to a narrow loss.

Nepal Looks to Resurrect Batting
Nepal takes on Namibia in the semifinal of the Plate Championship of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Johor Cricket Academy Ground on Tuesday in what will be a rematch of their last group game in Penang. Nepal registered a narrow three-run victory while defending 164. It was the first victory for defending Plate champion team. The team carried the winning momentum into the quarterfinal crushing Zimbabwe – a Test playing nation by 99 runs on Sunday.

Heroes Return Home
ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Plate Champion Nepal team returned home today to receive the heroes’ welcome. “It was a fantastic and great tour,” coach Roy Dias said at the Tribhuvan International Airport where his team were received by Sports Minister Radha Krishna Mainali and Cricket Association of Nepal officials. “I am proud of the way we win the plate championship, by beating two Test countries in good matches. I am proud of the boys,” he added.
