Nepal registered a thumping victory of eight wickets over Argentina in the ongoing Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 at Navile, Italy on Wednesday.

Tanzania beat Nepal

Nepal´s experiments with new opening pair ended in a nine-run defeat against Tanzania in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 at Centro Sportivo Ca´Nova, Medicina, Italy on Tuesday.

After a long gap, Mehboob Alam was asked to open with Anil Mandal and the pair were out without scoring as Nepal were bundled out for 108 in 44.1 overs chasing 117 for victory. Continue reading

Asian Games 2010 fixtures published

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has published the fixtures for cricket competition in the 16th Asian Games 2010.

Nepal will compete against Hong Kong and Maldives in Group D for qualification to play against seeded teams in men’s competition. Malaysia, Singapore and China are in Group C and the top two teams from each group will join Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the knock-out competition. Continue reading

Nepal beat Italy by 5 wickets

Nepal registered a five-wicket victory over hosts Italy in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 cricket, but the win brought more concerns than celebrations.

Nepal confirmed in Asian Games cricket

Nepal will participate in both, men and women, Twenty20 cricket event in the Asian Games in Guangzhou, the XVI Asiad, as the teams have been confirmed for the event.

Rain played spoilsport as the inaugural match between Nepal and USA in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in Italy was called off after 14 overs on Saturday.

Nepal was 51/2 with in-form Anil Mandal on 30 and captain Paras Khadka on 10 when the match was halted by rainfall and finally called off for the day without a result. The teams will play a fresh rematch on Monday. Continue reading

Nepal warm up for Div 4 with victories

Nepal warmed up for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in Italy by winning both of its practice matches convincingly.

Nepali players in fine fettle for WCL

Nepali cricket team, which often faced fitness problems during previous tournaments, is in fine fettle with the Pepsi World Cricket League Division 4 just round the corner.

Nepal names WCL Div 4 squad

Manjit Shrestha has made a comeback in the final 14-member national squad announced for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division-4 to be held in Italy.

All-rounder Shrestha has been included in the national squad for the first time since 2005. He had participated in the ACC Three-day League Cricket in Hong Kong in 2005. Despite being named in the ACC Trophy in Malaysia in 2006, he was ruled out from the tour owing to injuries in his finger. Continue reading

TU now ok for int’l matches: ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has lifted the conditional ban on the TU Ground to host international matches after an inspection.

ICC chief Executive, in his letter to Binaya Raj Pandey, the president of Cricket Association of Nepal, said: “I am pleased to confirm that international matches can continue to be staged at the ground with immediate effect.” Continue reading

Kathmandu sets up final with Nepalgunj

Region No 3 Kathmandu set up the final clash with Region No 5 Nepalgunj in the Wai Wai Women´s Twenty20 National League as it defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 14 runs at the TU Cricket Grounds.

Winning the toss, Kathmandu elected to bat first and piled up 104 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing three wickets.
