Nepal Qualifies for ICC InterCon Cup 2005

Nepal qualified to participate in the next year’s ICC InterContinental Cup retaining the third position in the ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament after Malaysia drew to Singapore in their final league match.

Malaysia earned 8.5 points from the rain-interrupted match while hosts Singapore claimed 6.5 points. If rain hadn’t foiled the match, Nepal wouldn’t have saved its place in the ICC InterContinental Cup, the first-class status tournament. Malaysia scored 241/5 in 81 overs in the first innings while Singapore bowled out Singapore for 122 in 63.1 overs. In the second innings, Malaysia declared at 30/1 giving the hosts target of 151 runs in 34 overs. Singapore managed 103/3.

Hong Kong is at the top of the table with 95.5 points while United Arab Emirates (UAE) have 91.5. They both have three wins from as many games and are yet to face each other. Nepal earned 51.5 points from four matches, 4.5 clear of Singapore (47) and 9.5 clear of last placed Malaysia (42).

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to grant the last league match between Hong Kong and UAE in February next year in Hong Kong as status of the final after these two qualified for the final of the ACC FTC.
