Umpire Buddhi Pradhan Returns Optimistic

For Nepali umpire in the ICC Associate and Affiliate Panel, Buddhi Bahadur Pradhan, officiating seven matches at the ICC Trophy 2005 in Ireland was a learning experience.

“I leant a lot of things,” Pradhan told NepalCricket.com after today. “The co-operation and co-ordination shown by umpires of ICC International Panel was praiseworthy.” Pradhan said he practically learnt the process of reporting players for dissent behaviours.

Along with Pradhan, six top umpires of the 12 member panel and six from ICC International Panel officiated in the event. Pradhan paired up with K Hariharan of India, Ashoka DeSilva of Sri Lanka, Billy Doctrove of West Indies, Kevin Barbor of Zimbabwe and Tony Hill of New Zealand for seven matches.

This is the second instance for the best umpire in the country officiating in the ICC Trophy. He had already performed the role four years ago in Canada.

“All umpires of the ICC Associate and Affiliate Panel performed well,” Pradhan said. “Tournament match referee Australian Daryll Hair praised us and said ‘some of us could be standing in One-day International if worked hard’,” Pradhan added.

“I am optimistic since I have performed well,” 30-year-old Pradhan said.

Pradhan officiated in the following matches in the event: Holland vs PNG, Ireland vs Uganda, Scotland vs PNG, UAE vs Denmark, Ireland vs Denmark, USA vs PNG and Denmark vs Namibia.
