Nepal began defense of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship in style at Ceylon Sports Club (CSC) in Singapore defeating Hong Kong by 79 runs.
Hong Kong won the toss and elected to field first. Nepal scored 123/6 in 25 overs and bowled out Hong Kong for 44 runs in 16.3 overs. Captain Nary Thapa was named player of the match.
For Nepal, Mamata Thapa topscored remaining not out on 48 while Nary got 38. Their effort for fifth wicket resulted in 105-run partnership after Nepal went down 15/4.
Geeta Chudal took two wickets in Hong Kong´s innings. Sonu Khadka, Rubina Chhetri and Nary each grabbed a wicket as five Hong Kong women ran themselves out.
Nepal will play Kuwait on Tuesday.
In the other match of the day, Qatar dashed hosts Singapore´s hope by defeating them. Qatar scored 212/7 in 25 overs and bowled out Singapore for 69 in 18.1 overs to register a 143-run victory.
