Nepalgunj defeated Region No 6 (Baitadi) by 13 runs in the first semifinal on Tuesday while APF thrashed Region No 3 (Kathmandu) by seven wickets.

At the Nagar Bikash Ground in Pokhara, Baitadi elected to field first. Opener Laxmi Chaudhary scored 26 runs off 40 balls to take Nepalgunj to a total of 72/5 in 20 overs. Trishna Singh added 12 runs remaining unbeaten while Mnisha Rawal chipped in with 10 runs. Rekha Rawal took three wickets for Baitadi.

Chasing a 73-run target, Baitadi was all out with 59 runs in 18.3 overs. Opener Rekha Rawal (11 runs) and Roshani Bohara (21 runs) tried to anchor the Baitadi innings but could not avoid the defeat. Had not Nepalgunj bowled 16 extras, Baitadi would have suffered more humiliating defeat. To seal victory for Nepalgunj, Nery Thapa, Trishna Singh and Samjhana Sharma dismissed two batswomen each. Thapa took two catches and involved in a run out to clinch the player-of-the-match trophy.

In the second semifinal played also at the Nagar Bikash ground, Kathmandu elected to bat and put up 50/8 in 20 overs. Geeta Chudal scored 16 runs off 33 balls but none of the other batswomen reached to a double-digit score. Player-of-the-match Neera Rajopadhyaya and Sonu Khadka took two wickets.

In reply, APF met the target in 11.1 overs losing only three wickets. Madhu Thapa and Sarita Magar scored 15 runs each while Captain Neera Rajopadhyaya remained unbeaten with 14 runs.
