Nepal will meet four Division 1 teams in the World T20 Qualifiers 2013 to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in November.
The official draw and calendar are yet to be published but the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (www.scmp.com) reported that Nepal has been drawn in Pool B alongside Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Kenya, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea and the runner-up of the European Qualifiers, which is yet to be decided.
Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Scotland and Kenya are the Division 1 teams among the associate member nations of ICC. Papua New Guinea is a Division 2 team like Nepal, while Bermuda is in Division 3. Nepal had defeated Papua New Guinea in the last edition of the World T20 Qualifiers and Bermuda during the World Cricket League Division 3 held in Bermuda recently.
Hong Kong, Ireland, Namibia, Canada, Uganda, the United States, the UAE and the winner of the European Qualifiers have been drawn in Pool A.
In the article ‘Golden boy keen to give HK best crack at T20’ by Alvin Sallay published in the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong coach Charlie Buke has been quoted as saying: “Our first target will be to finish in the top five in our pool and qualify for the play-offs.”
