Hong Kong into semi; Malaysia alive
Hong Kong confirmed it’s position in the ACC Twenty20 Cup semifinals and the Twenty20 World Cup Qualifiers next year outplaying Kuwait at the TU Ground. Hong Kong was required to defeat Kuwait in 16.3 overs, after Kuwait scored 130/9, to ensure the qualification ahead of Nepal on better net run rate and they did the job in 14.5 overs. Kuwait elected to bat first and put up 130/9 in 20 overs. Mohammed Asghar scored 34 runs off 22 balls hitting two boundaries and three sixes. Azmatullah Nazeer added 28 runs off 29 balls. UAE stuns Nepal
With a below-par performance in batting and fielding, Nepal lost to UAE by 6 wickets in the ACC Twenty20 Cup at the TU Cricket Ground. The heart-breaking defeat was a result of Nepal’s own fault and UAE’s thorough performance all-round which helped them to outplay Nepal in every department of the game.

Afghanistan continue winning
On the second day of the ACC Twenty20 Cup, defending champions Afghanistan and UAE secured second victory of the tournament as Kuwait and Maldives also registered a win each. Afghanistan beat Oman by 40 runs and UAE stunned hosts Nepal by 6 wickets at the TU Ground whereas Maldives thrashed Bhutan by 9 wickets and Kuwait got past Saudi Arabia by six wickets at the IOE Ground.

Nepal wins thriller
In a nail-biting finish, Nepali batsmen held nerves in final overs to register a two-wicket victory over Hong Kong in the ACC Twenty20 Cup at the TU Cricket Ground. Nepal needed 26 off last two overs chasing Hong Kong’s 114/9 in 20 overs and it looked easy with captain Paras Khadka, playing at 44, at the center. However, he was out next ball trying an unorthodox flick to Irfan Ahmed.

Shah rejects appointment
Former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Jai Kumar Nath Shah has declined to accept his appointment as an advisor of CAN. In a letter sent to National Sports Council (NSC) member-secretary Yubaraj Lama on November 20, Shah wrote that he was offered a similar position in 2006 but he declined to ensure ‘open field for new board so that they can work freely’. “Thank you for your kind offer but my decision is irrevocable,” he wrote to Lama. NSC had appointed him as the advisor on November 18. Shah was president of CAN for more than 40 years before his committee was dissolved on September, 2006. Shakti left out of ACC T20 Cup squad
Senior cricketer Shakti Gauchan and wicket-keeper Mahesh Chhetri have been dropped from the ACC Twenty20 Cup. In a surprising decision, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) left out Gauchan, who had been awarded the Best Bowler in the National T20 event, while announcing the team for the ACC event.
Monthly allowance for nat’l players
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) decided to provide a monthly allowance to national cricketers. Executive committee meeting of CAN on Thursday decided to provide Rs 5,000 (nearly USD 65) every month to cricketers of the national team.

Fixture revised for ACC T20
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday revised the groupings and fixtures for the ACC Twenty20 Cup to be held in Kathmandu in December. After the revision, Nepal is now pitted in Group B along with Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Group A consists of Afghanistan, Malaysia, Bhutan, Oman and the Maldives.
Pandey returns to CAN
National Sports Council (NSC) entrusted former presidents of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) roles in the newly formed committee. Immediate past President Binay Raj Pandey has been appointed as the patron while former President Jay Kumar Nath Shah has been appointed the advisor. (Update: Shah rejected appointment)

Baluwatar wins Regional Women’s selection
Baluwatar Cricket Training Center won the Wai Wai Women’s Regional Selection Twenty20 Cricket Tournament of Region No 3 Kathmandu on Sunday. Baluwatar defeated Greenland Children Academy (GCA) Red by seven wickets in the final played at Sainik School Ground, Bhaktapur. GCA, electing to bat first, put up 75 for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Neema Tamang was unbeaten on 26 runs scored off 55 balls. He hit three fours. Geeta Chudal contributed five runs and Purnima Ghimire added four runs for the GCA.

CAN committed for election, ACC T20 Cup
The newly appointed Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) expressed commitment to conduct ACC Twenty20 Cup successfully and hold the election within two months. “We want to express full commitment to two mandates given to us – the election and the ACC T20 Cup, within two months,” CAN president Tanka Aanbuhang said in his first appearance to the press.
Blend of young, senior for ACC T20: Coach
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake will field a blend of young and senior players in the upcoming ACC Twenty20 Cup. After retuning from his first assignment at the SAARC Under-25 Twenty20 Cup, the coach said he hoped to fill the weaknesses of the team with the experience of the senior players in the upcoming event.
Pakistan beat Nepal out of SAARC Cup
Nepal created enough points to beat Pakistan in the SAARC Twenty20 Cup, but faltered in crunch times to bow out of the event with a big 73-run defeat in Maldives. Pakistan scored 176/9 in 20 overs and restricted Nepal for 203/9 to proceed to the semifinals along with Sri Lanka from Group B.
CAN regional committees reshuffled
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) formed committees for successful hosting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Twenty20 Cup and reshuffled regional committee. A board meeting of the newly appointed executive committee appointed Sailesh Chaudhary as the president of Region No 1 (Biratnagar) while CAN vice-president TB Shah replace Pawan Agrawal in Region No 2 (Birgunj).

Nepal pull out victory against KIC India
Nepal defeated Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIC) India by 6 wickets in the SAARC Twenty20 Cup in Maldives. After suffering a defeat in first match against Sri Lanka, Nepal displayed strong batting performance to pull up a astonishing win – thanks to half-centuries from captain Paras Khadka and vice-captain Gyanendra Malla.
Nepal lose to Sri Lanka
Dhanushka Gunatillake scored a brilliant century as Sri Lanka outplayed Nepal by 76 runs on the opening day of the SAARC Twenty20 Cup in Maldives. With man of the match Gunatillake’s 105, Sri Lanka raced to 240 for 4 in 20 overs. Nepal only managed 164 for 9 in 20 overs.
ACC T20 Cup fixture released
Nepal will open the ACC Twenty20 Cup campaign against Malaysia at the TU Cricket Ground on December 3, according to the fixture released by Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Nepal is grouped along with Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Bhutan and Saudi Arabia for the tournament in Group B. Group A consists of Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, Kuwait and Maldives.
SAARC T20 rescheduled
Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) announced the new schedule for the SAARC Twenty20 Cup cricket tournament on Monday. The schedule has been revised after Bangladesh did not send a team. The tournament, originally scheduled to begin on Monday, was postponed by a day.

CAN to be dissolved
The sports governing body, National Sports Council (NSC), is all set to dissolve the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) ending Binaya Raj Pandey’s reign. According to Nagarik national daily, Maoist central member Tanka Angbuhang, 32, is all set to become new CAN president. “NSC is in the final stages of reshuffling CAN and there is likelihood of CAN being reshuffled on Oct 25 itself,” a senior official at NSC was quoted as saying to the daily newspaper.
