Ansari’s century guides Central for victory
Hasim Ansari’s century knock guided Central Region for a 98-run victory over Mid-Western Region in the Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Cup T20 Tournament on Monday at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Batting first, Central Region posted huge total of 199 runs off 20 overs with the fall of four wickets and restricted Mid-Western in just 101 runs. With the win, Central Region has boosted its chances to qualify for the final spot. Khakurel ton seals win for APF
Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) and Western Region started the Indian Ambassador Cricket Cup T20 Tournament in winning notes on Sunday. APF defeated Central Region by 88 runs while Western Region thrashed Eastern Region by 122 runs. A century-knock from Subash Khakurel and a half century from Paresh Lohani guided APF for the total of 199 runs in allotted 20 overs losing only a wicket. Nepal suffer consecutive defeats
Nepal suffered second consecutive defeat in their Mumbai tour on Sunday as Bhiwanadi Taluka Cricket Association pulled a 35-run victory over touring team in a T20 match. The home team won the toss and elected to bat first. Parag Pagedar scored 42 runs off 28 balls to guide Bhiwanadi to a total of 161 runs losing five wickets. Nepal’s winning run during their Mumbai tour came to a halt on Saturday as they lost their eighth friendly match to Payyade Sports Club by six wickets. Nepal set up semifinal clash with Bhutan
Nepal fixed their semifinal clash with 2010 finalists Bhutan in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship Cricket Tournament on Monday. Nepal defeated Thailand by four wickets in their last league match to top Group A. Team off to Mumbai
A 23-member cricket team, including 18 players, left Kathmandu on Monday for a practice tour to Mumbai, India as Nepali national team is preparing for the upcoming ICC World T20 Qualifiers to be held in the UAE on March. Nepali team, led by Coach Pubudu Dassanayake and Captain Paras Khadka, will play six T20 matches and two 50-over matches in Mumbai during the tour. The tam will reach Bhairahawa by road and take train to reach Mumbai on February 2.
CAN gets office bearers
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) board has appointed Keshav Ghimire and Binod Kumar Mainali as vice presidents. Mainali was elected as board member by CAN’s electoral general assembly in Chitwan on 18th of December, 2011. CAN President Tanka Aangbuhang had appointed Ghimire as board member on 6th January. Likewise, Thakur Prasad Pahadi and former national team captain Uttam Kumar Karmacharya are the new secretaries of CAN, following the board meeting. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) dropped former captain Binod Das and named preliminary 18-member national squad on Tuesday for the upcoming ICC World T20 Qualifiers to be held in the UAE on March. The CAN has called in Paresh Lohani in the preliminary squad.
Nepal to tour India
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) scheduled a tour to India for the national squad later this month as a preparation for the ICC World T20 Global Qualifiers. CAN, instead of four two-day cricket matches as proposed by coach Pubudu Dassanayake, opted for a trip to India during which the national squad will undergo training and play practice matches.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the fixture for inaugural Women’s Under-19 National Cricket Tournament beginning December 28. All eight cricket development regions will participate in the league-cum-knockout tournament to be hosted by Kathmandu. The top two teams from two groups will meet in the semifinals and the final will be played on January 1, 2012 at the TU Cricket Ground.

CAN to revise statute
Newly elected president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Tanka Aangbuhang, said that a committee will be formed for amending the CAN statute soon after the executive committee gets its full size. The general assembly of CAN that concluded in Chitwan on Sunday elected a 17-member executive committee and 14 others are set to be nominated either by the president or by the executive committee.

Angbuhang elected CAN president unopposed
Maoist leader Tanka Angbuhang is elected as the president of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) unopposed in the first ever election in CAN’s 64-year long history. All other members of the 17-member committee were also elected unopposed in the first-ever election of CAN in its six-decade history.

Election time for cricket
With a couple of days remaining to the first-ever election in the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the cricketing community gets busy and divided. National Sports Council (NSC) had dissolved the CAN led by Binay Raj Pandey on October 26 and installed UCPN (Maoist) central committee member Tanka Aangbuhang as new chief with a mandate to formulate its statute and hold election within the 60 days.
